The Story

We walked into this bedroom and immediately knew it had to have the window bench. Thankfully, the homeowner agreed. With lush, beautiful gardens just outside, this was the perfect place to curl up with a good book — so a big bay window bench became the anchor of the design, and as a bonus, it created more usable floor space throughout the room.

The homeowner had already purchased gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. Peacock bedding before hiring us, and we took that as our starting point. We pulled the rich jewel tones from the pattern and ran with it — deep teals, soft greens, and warm golds weaving through every element of the room.

Lettuce Services and LBV Painting handled the paint and construction work, and our seamstress created a beautiful custom bench using coordinating Spoonflower fabric. The result is a window seat that feels like it belongs exactly there.

The artwork was chosen intuitively, on a whim — and by happy coincidence, it perfectly resembles the homeowner's grandchildren. That kind of magic is what makes this work so special. The art is from Urban Garden Prints.
