When this family reached out, they had one simple request: bring the beach home. After years of dreaming about their favorite coastal vacations, they wanted to wake up to that same sense of calm and brightness every single day.
The existing kitchen was dark, dated, and disconnected from the rest of their home. Heavy wood cabinets blocked natural light, and the closed-off layout made entertaining nearly impossible. We knew we had to open things up—literally and metaphorically.
Our solution started with a complete gut renovation. We removed the upper cabinets on one wall to install open shelving, instantly creating an airy feel. The soft blue lower cabinets paired with white quartz countertops became the foundation of the coastal palette. Natural wood accents and brass hardware added warmth without losing that breezy, relaxed vibe.
The backsplash was where we got to have some fun—a subtle wave-pattern tile that catches the light beautifully and gives just a hint of the ocean without being too literal. We also repositioned the island to create better flow and added comfortable seating so the space could serve as both a workspace and a gathering spot.
The result? A kitchen that feels like a permanent vacation. Our clients tell us they brew their morning coffee and feel like they're back at the beach house. Mission accomplished.
